Call for scientific papers on Salmonella, Campylobacter, other bacterial pathogens, viruses, parasites, chemical and physical hazards, or other swine-pork related issues that may affect public health and public policy.

ABSTRACT

The deadline for abstracts is April 30th, 2009. Abstracts must be submitted electronically ONLY to: http://www.safepork2009.org/abstract.html , be written in English (maximum 300 words), and be in standard letter size (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm). Please structure the abstract as follows:

The presenting author will be notified of acceptance by May 15th, 2009.

PAPER

The deadline for paper manuscripts (maximum 4 pages, including tables, figures and references) for accepted abstracts is June 30th, 2009. The final copy must be in Microsoft Office Word format and e-mailed to papers@safepork2009.org

Publication of short papers in the Symposium proceedings should not preclude publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Poster and oral sessions will be organized and all accepted presentations (oral and poster) will be included in the Proceedings. Communications will not be published in the Symposium Proceedings unless the registration for and payment by at least one of the authors has been received before May 30th, 2009.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTATIONS

Oral presentation

The official language of the Symposium is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

The time allotted for presentations is 10 minutes and 2 minutes for questions, except in the case of lead presentations (one per session), selected by the Scientific Committee, which are allotted 17 minutes and 3 minutes for questions.

E-slide projection (Microsoft Office – Power Point) will be available on site. Software must be compatible with a Windows Operating System. The use of private PCs is prohibited.

A CD or USB Pen or floppy disk of your Power Point presentation must be delivered to the conference room at least two hours before the scientific session concerned, or, ideally, the day before the presentation. Specialized technicians will be at your disposal to help you with a run-through.

The time and date of your presentation will be posted on the updated Web page of the final program.

Poster presentation

Posters must be in English.

Posters must not exceed 115 cm in width and 102 cm in height. The title and authors must appear at the top of the poster. We recommend the use of a font size legible from a distance of 2 meters.

Poster will be displayed from 8:30 am on September 30th, 2009 to October 2th, 2009. Posters must be removed before 6:00 pm the last day on the Symposium.

There will be poster sessions every afternoon on October 1st and 2rd, 2009, after lunch until 2:00 pm and during coffee breaks.

The issuance of awards for best student oral and poster presentations is scheduled for October 2nd, 2009.
